Rerouting the Wiring Harness

The Ford Transit's wiring harness is originally badly placed on top of the driver side's wall, and hard to move out of the way. Which puts it in the way of cabinets, sliding bed, paneling, etc.

Also, since I have a 78" arm span, every inch of lateral space counts.

I can not afford over-1"-thick framed walls behind the paneling. So the harness had to go and be rerouted in the wall cavities !

However, scouring the web for inspiration, I could only find a couple of videos from DIYers who spliced the whole harness near the cargo door. That's more than 50 wires. No thanks, pass...

Instead I settled on only splicing its very end as it exits under the rear bumper on the passenger side. At this location the loom is down to only 16 wires. Much easier and safer to hack.

Also, here is an interesting video where RichBuilt removes the harness without splicing it. It might help preserve the van's warranty, but it resulted in a few bent and broken plastic parts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-ynmpxAlHw
