Mocking Up the Layout

One of the most satisfying steps in a build is mocking up the floorplan and cabinets inside the van. Anything is possible and the building ~~nightmares~~ challenges are still very very far away 😆

After 8 months of CAD work on the computer, seeing and experiencing the real thing is so rewarding.

Used sticks and cardboard. Fast prototyped with a brad nailer, screws and staples. Timelapse:

It only took a couple of days to mock up every piece of furniture. This phase was crucial to find ergonomic and human factor limitations and try corrective design changes.

The CAD model was then updated: counter height, bed length, pantry width, bike module, etc.

Doesn't it now totally look like the CAD model, down to the finest details ? Amazing !
