Before the ice cimbing trip to Ouray it was crucial to panel the sliding door. Otherwise heating the space would have been difficult as this door is a giant heatsink. Insulation is necessary too but that'll come later as foaming up the window upper arch would have taken more time than was left...
The insertion of rivet nuts all around the perimeter was followed by installing a backing structure at the bottom of the window. It provides support for the panel in this area that lacks rivet nuts, allowing to hold the panel with screws.
To increase privacy and reduce thermal losses the window frame was made several inches smaller than the glass, and its bottom was set level with the sink cabinet's backsplash.
Pockets were then cut out on each side of the window sill so the sink cabinet could freely slide out and back in.

Lot of work left to do: fixing the pockets, insulation, nooks and crannies for storage, veneer, etc. But that'll have to wait. No time left, it's time for this camper van to hit the road ! 😆
To be continued...
